Introduction to Contract Language and Interpretation

DESCRIPTION

During this workshop, participants will learn contract language and interpretation basics including an understanding of the five steps to contract interpretation and how to apply them in different workplace situations. Attending participants will receive a toolkit to assist with key terms, concepts, principles, and additional resources.

WORKSHOP GOAL

Participants will learn the basics of contract language and the concepts of interpretation.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:

Describe key terms and principles for contract interpretation.
Explain and apply the meaning and purpose behind each of the Five Steps to Contract Interpretation:
- Language
- Bargaining History
- Past Practice
- Law
- Analysis and Summary
Demonstrate how to approach and navigate contract interpretation situations that come up in day-to-day work.
