WorkSafeBC: Dealing with Occupational Injuries or Illnesses, What You Need to Know


This session is intended for your people leaders, disability management employees, and HR/LR employees.

DESCRIPTION

PSEA is very pleased to partner with WorkSafeBC to deliver a series of short workshops. The first in the series is entitled “Dealing with an Occupational Injury or Illness, What You Need to Know”.

During the session, WSBC will cover the following:

  • An overview of the WorkSafeBC claims process
  • When and how to communicate with WorkSafeBC
  • An employer’s “RTW Obligations”
    • Duty to Cooperate
    • Duty to Maintain Employment
  • Return to Work Fundamentals

Arvin Cajigas

Arvin Cajigas partners with employers, industry groups, health and safety associations, and unions in providing consulting services for injury management and injury prevention initiatives. He is currently a manager with the Return-to-Work consultation and education services team at WorkSafeBC. He is also a registered nurse, a certified disability management professional, and a licensed disability management auditor.

Brittney McNabb

Brittney McNabb is a Recovery and Return to Work Specialist at WorkSafeBC. Before this, she spent more than 15 years working as a kinesiologist and clinical exercise physiologist in the private sector. In her current role, Brittney provides consultation and education services to a variety of stakeholders, assisting with injury management and supporting the return-to-work process.

Juanita Woodrow

Juanita Woodrow is a return-to-work specialist nurse at WorkSafeBC and a certified disability management professional. Juanita has worked in a variety of roles at WorkSafeBC for the last 27 years, including claims management. In her current role, Juanita provides consultation and education services to a variety of stakeholders, assisting with injury management and supporting the return-to-work process.
